Linus on git: Go distributed. Ditch the “committers” class; everybody is equal. Don’t have commit rules. Let namespaces be local. Let merges be effortless; cheap branches are useless, if merges are expensive. Ascertain data integrity: git inherently does consistency checks for you. Summary: git is safe, so fast it can do things nobody else can do, and distributed.
